Zilovertamab vedotin for treating relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma

Zilovertamab vedotin is currently being developed for the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) who have not responded to at least one previous line of treatment. DLBCL is a cancer of the immune system’s B-cells, a type of white blood cell. It develops when the body produces abnormal B-cells that are larger than healthy cells and build up in the lymph nodes or other organs. These abnormal cells do not work properly, which means the immune system cannot fight infection as it should. Common symptoms include painless swelling in the neck, armpits, or groin, night sweats, unexplained fevers, and weight loss. Relapsed lymphoma means the disease has returned after treatment, while refractory lymphoma means the disease no longer responds to treatment. The exact cause is not known, but the risk is higher in people with weakened immune systems. Outcomes for patients whose disease progresses remain poor, highlighting the need for new treatment options.
