Zibotentan-dapagliflozin for treating chronic kidney disease with high proteinuria

Zibotentan-dapagliflozin fixed dose combination is being developed for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) with high proteinuria. In CKD, the kidneys do not function as well as they should. One of the main jobs of the kidneys is to filter the blood. The kidneys keep important things the body needs inside the blood, like protein. Proteinuria means that there is an abnormally high level of protein in urine. The body needs protein to build its organs and fight infections. Albumin is the most abundant protein found in the blood. People with a high amount of protein in their urine are at an increased risk of having CKD progress to kidney failure. Some symptoms of CKD with proteinuria may include foamy urine, swelling of the feet, ankles belly area or face. Despite current treatment options, many patients still have ongoing protein loss in their urine. Therefore, an unmet need exists for additional treatment options for CKD with high proteinuria.
