Teclistamab for previously treated relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma

Teclistamab is in clinical development for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (MM) in patients who have received 1-3 prior lines of therapy. MM is a blood cancer characterised by an abundance of abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow (the spongy tissue at the centre of some bones that produces the body’s blood cells). MM affects several areas of the body, such as the spine, skull, pelvis and ribs. Symptoms may include persistent bone pain, tiredness, weakness, shortness of breath, repeated infections, unusual bleeding, and kidney problems. In relapsed or refractory MM, the patient has gone into complete or partial remission (signs or symptoms went away or became less severe) but then the disease returned (relapsed) or stopped responding to treatment (refractory). Outcomes for patients with disease progression is poor, therefore there is a need to discover and target novel pathways.
