Tanruprubart for treating Guillain–Barre syndrome

Tanruprubart is currently being developed for the treatment of patients with Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS), a rare but serious condition that affects the nerves. GBS occurs when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the peripheral nerves, often after a viral or bacterial infection. This can lead to symptoms such as tingling or numbness in the hands and feet, muscle weakness, difficulty moving, and in severe cases problems with breathing and heart function. Symptoms usually worsen over the first few weeks. Some people are left with long-term disability, and the condition can be life-threatening. Despite existing treatments, outcomes for some patients remain poor, highlighting the need for new treatment options.
