Subcutaneous olanzapine for schizophrenia

Subcutaneous (injected into the skin) olanzapine (SC olanzapine) is in clinical development for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults. Schizophrenia is a long-term mental health condition, which can be triggered by many different biological, environmental, and psychological factors. Symptoms of schizophrenia can be divided into positive symptoms (such as hallucinations and delusions), or negative symptoms (such as a lack of motivation or ability to take care of oneself). Schizophrenia is a major burden on the lives of affected individuals, and current injectable therapies pose the risk of rare but serious adverse events.
