Sonesitatug vedotin for the treatment of metastatic Claudin 18.2 positive gastric cancer or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma after at least 1 therapy

Sonesitatug vedotin is in development for the second-line or greater treatment of metastatic or locally advanced unresectable gastric cancer (GC) or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma (GEJC) that is Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2) positive. GC/GEJC are types of cancers that form in the inner lining of the stomach or where the stomach and oesophagus meet. Metastatic or advanced unresectable GC/GEJC is cancer that has spread to another part of the body and cannot be removed with surgery; patients with these cancers have poor survival outcomes. CLDN18.2 is a protein that’s overexpressed in GC/GEJC and promotes cancer cell survival and spread. Targeting CLDN18.2 with specific therapies hold promise for treating these advanced cancers.
