Sacituzumab Govitecan for HR+/HER2- locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer after endocrine therapy

Sacituzumab govitecan is currently in clinical development for treating patients with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer following endocrine therapy. Breast cancer occurs when abnormal cells in the breast multiply and form a tumour. HR+ breast cancer is characterised by the expression of either progesterone, oestrogen, or both hormone receptors. HER2- breast cancers exhibit low or no expression of the HER2 protein in cancer cells. There remains an unmet treatment need for these patients, particularly when the cancer continues to progress after treatment or recurs months or years after initial treatment.
