Ruxolitinib cream for treating moderate atopic dermatitis

Ruxolitinib cream is currently in development for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD). AD (also known as atopic eczema) is a common skin condition that causes the skin to become itchy, cracked, and dry. In moderate cases, the patches of skin on the body can become large and are associated with intense itching and redness. The cause of AD is not fully known but can be made worse by coming into contact with an allergen, heat, skin infections, stress or hormonal changes. Patients who experience AD can suffer from poor quality of life and other comorbidities such as mental health disorders. Current treatment options for AD have varied effectiveness and significant side effects with long-term use. Therefore, there is a need to develop additional treatment options for these patients.
