Mevrometostat with enzalutamide for treating metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer after abiraterone acetate treatment

Mevrometostat in combination with enzalutamide is in development for the treatment of men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) following on from abiraterone acetate treatment. Prostate cancer develops in the prostate gland, with abnormal cells starting to divide and grow in an uncontrolled way. A cancer is considered metastatic when abnormal cancer cells spread into surrounding tissues, organs or bones. A common treatment for prostate cancer is androgen-deprivation therapy, however not all tumours respond to this treatment and these tumours are considered to be castration resistant, with these cancers also having poorer prognosis for patients. The symptoms of metastatic prostate cancer can vary, with common symptoms including bone pain, high fatigue, generally feeling unwell, and unexpected weight loss.
