Lutetium (177Lu) oxodotreotide for treating gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumours

Lutetium (177Lu) oxodotreotide is in clinical development for the treatment of adolescents with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (GEP-NETs). A NET is a rare tumour that can develop in many different organs of the body with the most frequent location being the digestive system. They arise from cells that release hormones into the bloodstream (neuroendocrine cells). NETs represent a diverse group of tumours which most commonly arise from gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) structures. Due to progression or intolerance to chemotherapy regimens, the available treatment options for patients with advanced GEP-NETs are often limited. Surgery is a common treatment option, but only a minority of patients with GEP-NETs can be cured with surgery at the time of diagnosis, often due to delayed diagnosis and widespread
metastatic disease.
