Fenebrutinib for treating relapsing multiple sclerosis

Fenebrutinib is in clinical development for the treatment of relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS). Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves (myelin) in the brain and spinal cord, disrupting communication between the brain and body, causing a range of symptoms. RMS is the most common type of multiple sclerosis, characterised by episodes of new or worsening neurological symptoms, termed relapses or flare-ups, sometimes after periods of remission (improvement). With continued relapse there is progressive damage to the affected nerve cells in the nervous system, which can lead to irreversible loss of bodily function, permanence of symptoms and increasing disability. Reducing the frequency of relapses and slowing disability progression is the goal of treating multiple sclerosis.
