Elranatamab for treating newly-diagnosed multiple myeloma after autologous stem cell transplantation

Elranatamab is currently in development for newly-diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM) in patients who have undergone autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). MM is a type of blood cancer that is characterised by an abundance of abnormal immune cells, known as plasma cells, in the bone marrow (the spongy tissue at the centre of some bones that produces the body’s blood cells). MM affects several areas of the body, such as the spine, skull, pelvis and ribs, and symptoms may include persistent bone pain, tiredness, weakness, shortness of breath, repeated infections, unusual bleeding and kidney problems. There are limited treatments available for individuals with newly-diagnosed MM after undergoing ASCT, and thus there is a need to develop new treatment options.
