Belzutifan with pembrolizumab adjuvant therapy for treating clear cell renal cell carcinoma after nephrectomy

Belzutifan with pembrolizumab is in clinical development for the adjuvant treatment of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) post nephrectomy (partial or full surgical removal of a kidney). Adjuvant treatment is given after primary treatment (for example surgery). ccRCC is a type of kidney cancer. Symptoms of ccRCC can include blood in the urine, pain, weight loss, feeling tired, fever, and a lump in the side. However, sometimes patients do not have any noticeable symptoms. Following nephrectomy, patients may be at risk of recurrence, meaning the cancer comes back. Therefore, more effective adjuvant treatments are needed for this patient group.
