Amlitelimab for moderate to severe atopic dermatitis in people aged 12 years and older

Amlitelimab is currently in development for moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (AD) in adults and adolescents. AD, also known as eczema, is a condition that causes dry, itchy and inflamed skin. It is common in young children but can occur at any age. AD is long lasting and tends to flare sometimes with periods of symptoms being worse than others. In more severe cases, AD can cause widespread red, inflamed skin all over the body and constant itching. There is currently no cure for atopic dermatitis. Although many approved therapies they are effective in decreasing disease activity, durable disease control is not achieved. Additionally, some patients with moderate to severe AD remain inadequately controlled by current available therapies, and newer immune-targeting treatments have safety issues and cause rapid symptom relapse after discontinuation. Novel drugs with effective long-term disease control, minimal safety issues, and convenient dosing are needed.
