Quantum computing is an emergent and rapidly evolving field underpinned by key quantum particle behaviours including superposition, entanglement and interference. These unique properties facilitate computational power that exponentially exceeds classical computing and has the potential to transform many aspects of our lives. Healthcare has been identified as an area where quantum computing can have a major impact, helping to speed innovation in molecular simulations, genomics, personalised medicine and artificial intelligence. This horizon scan provides a comprehensive overview of quantum computing technologies that are marketed or in development for use in healthcare settings. The scan identifies technologies in clinical trials, published literature, news and media sources and funding grants. Technologies are categorised based on their maturity using two frameworks. As a result, health systems and regulators can understand the current development pipeline and prepare for the unique challenges that quantum computing will bring.
