Reporting Horizon Scanning Studies: Prototype Development Study

This study developed the first prototype reporting checklist and glossary for health technology horizon scanning by adapting PRISMA-ScR through multidisciplinary workshops and internally validating the draft against 17 Innovation Observatory reports, resulting in a 35-item checklist with 28 mandatory items. The checklist addresses poor methodological transparency and inconsistent terminology in horizon scanning, and, although still requiring external validation, it offers a structured foundation to improve the reproducibility, comparability, and decision-making value of horizon scanning reports.
