Development of the Kunonga framework for operationalising approaches to health inequality and/or inequity evidence syntheses

This article presents the Kunonga Framework, a practical tool to help researchers address health inequalities and/or inequities in evidence synthesis. It shows how intersectionality and a life-course perspective can improve understanding of who benefits from health interventions and inform fairer policy decisions.

This journal article describes the development of the Kunonga Framework, a structured methodological approach designed to help researchers systematically address health inequalities and/or inequities in evidence synthesis. Drawing on a systematic review and expert consultation, the framework provides practical guidance for integrating intersectionality and life-course perspectives across key stages of evidence synthesis, with a case study demonstrating its application and value for informing more equitable health and care policy.
